Big Money Investment in Whistler / Blackcomb

by Jim Bartlett April 07, 2016

Big news regarding a major capital investment in Whistler Blackcomb mountain resort. You can read the press release here .

I have mixed emotions. It's cool to see the investments and improvements that will happen on the mountain, that both support skiing and mountain biking. Roger that. I can't say I'm thrilled with the notion of a "water park". Mind you, I have visions of Kalahari or Great Wolf Lodge, and I know (?) this will be different. But, I guess if the resort has to cater to an all-weather family crowd to be economically viable, then ok, fine. As long as there's still investment in the more technical areas for the more advanced skiers and downhill mountain bikers, then it's all good.

It's a long...long range capital plan. But it's sure exciting news for the mountain resort. We hope they're able to secure the permits and begin the projects soon.
