Staff Review of Crash Pads 2500
There are a whole lot of padded shorts out there. We've been selling and testing protective gear since 2005 and we've found Crash Pads 2500 padded shorts to be one of, if not
the most versatile, comfortable, protective padded shorts on the market. The articulated, thermal-formed pads provide excellent soft-shell protection for your hips, quads, buttocks, and tailbone. You'd think all that protection would limit your range of motion, but it doesn't. Not with these shorts. The four-way stretch Lycra material and the shape and design of the pads really work together to maintain your freedom of movement. Another thing that makes Crash Pads 2500 padded shorts so popular is their versatility. We sell them to snowboarders, skiers, skateboarders, inline skaters, hockey players, mountain bikers--you name it. They provide professional-level protection at a price well within reason for recreational athletes. If you can only afford one pair of protective padded shorts, these are the natural choice.
| INSIDE SCOOP: Not only are the Crash Pads 2500 one of the best protective shorts out there, but you can get professional level protection for under $80. That's a great value, AND they qualify for FREE ECONOMY SHIPPING. How sweet is that? |

The 2500 are good all-around padded shorts, with folks using them for skateboarding, snowboarding, mountain biking, inline skating, ice skating, hockey, and more.
The Crash Pads 2500 "Pro Pants" are hand stitched in the U.S.A. Compared to other brands of padded shorts, the Crash Pads offer more soft pad impact protection. As always, level of protective involves a trade-off between amount of protection and weight/bulk. The Crash Pads 2500s tend towards the "more protection" end of the spectrum, and are a good choice for people looking for a lot of protection, but not so much that they would need hard shell body armor.
About Crash Pads
Crash Pads is dedicated to making protective gear that is flexible and lightweight, but won’t restrict any of your athletic mobility. As a company, Crash Pads is the quintessential small business success story. Back in 1992 in the beautiful river town of Astoria, Oregon, a woman teaching herself to inline skate got tired of the bruises she suffered every time she wiped out. For her own self-preservation, she began to stitch foam pads into her clothing. Through trial and error, her designs became increasingly more sophisticated. Thus was born Crash Pads, one of the very first manufacturers of body armor in the United States. More than two decades later, every piece of protective gear the company designs is still manufactured in the United States (though no longer at this enterprising woman’s kitchen table).
