Giro Shiv Snow Helmet was developed in conjunction with several riders, Antti Autti,Risto Mattila,Gretchen Bleiler,Andy Finch,Steve Fisher, and Wyatt Caldwell. The Giro Shiv Helmet was first introduced in 2009 and was developed with tons of input from the Giro team. The Giro Shiv was designed to be the ultimate park and pipe helmet because it's light weight, has a low profile, and is full of nice features requested by the Pro riders. For example, the Giro Shiv features:
In-mold shell with EPS liner. In-mold shell makes the Giro Shiv very light weight, yet strong.
8 SuperCool vents pull cool, fresh air into the helmet while pushing heat and stale air out. The SuperCool vents keep you feeling cool and fresh all day.
Removable WeatherStrip vent plugs allow you to plug up the vents on those super cold days and stay toasty warm.
The Giro Shiv also includes the new Mag Clip Goggle Retainer. This clip sits on the back of the Shiv, and is held in place by a magnet built into the liner, with the other magnet half inside the clip. Slap the clip on and hold your goggle strap in place, or take the clip off and stow it.
Additonal features of the Giro Shiv helmet include:
An Interior Subliner that is removable. Leave the liner in and ride with the helmet as is. Want to wear your beanie underneath? Remove the interior subliner and ride the Shiv on top of your beanie
The Giro Shiv complies with CE EN1077 safety standard. (the Giro Shiv is not certified to the ASTM F2040 standard)
