The 2010 Giro Shiv is Giro’s top-end park and pipe snowboard helmet. The Shiv is incredibly light, durable, and roomy, so you can wear a beanie for warmth under it or use the multitude of pads included with the Shiv to dial it in the fit just the way you like it. The Shiv also comes equipped with softshell earmuffs designed to accept any of the Giro TuneUps line of hardwired and wireless music systems (sold separately). With the Giro Shiv, you can insert a Giro TuneUps MP3 device and throw your moves on the pipe while cranking your favorite tunes, be it Jay Z, Ludacris, the Peas, or the Kings of Leon.
In-Mold Perfection The in-mold helmet construction that Giro employs for the Shiv fuses an exterior polycarbonate hardshell with a highly impact-absorbing, EPS inner foam liner for superior durability without a lot of weight. In fact, the Shiv may be the lightest helmet Giro makes. It’s Giro’s world-famous in-mold bicycle helmet technology taken to new extremes for snowboarding.
Flexible Venting The Giro Shiv sports eight vents. The included Weatherstrip Velcro inserts control the flow of air through these eight vents. Wear your Giro Shiv with all of the Weatherstrip inserts in for maximum warmth or pull one, two, or more of them out to let just the right amount of air flow through. These Weatherstrip Velcro inserts are durable and easily fit in any coat pocket when not in use.
