Giro Talon Ski Racing Helmet

The Talon Ski Racing Helmet is Giro’s second entry (after the Giro Streif) into the downhill racing helmet category. It is a highly protective, truly attractive downhill racer’s helmet. Made for skiers who are serious about their racing, but who may have additional things in their shopping cart to purchase, this is a helmet that provides both excellent protection and some venting features that are not offered on Giro’s other downhill race helmets.

The Giro Talon offers you:

  • ASTM F2040 and CE EN1077 Safety Certification for recreational snow sports
  • Super Fit Engineering for a perfect fitting helmet for any head size or shape
  • A high-impact ABS exterior hard shell
  • Hard Shell Construction offers great protection at a more economical price, as the tough outer shell is molded and then attached to the impact-absorbing EPS liner
  • Aerodynamic shell shape
  • Rear goggle retainer with a wrap-around goggle strap channel
  • Wire mesh-protected ear holes to assist in hearing and balance
  • Two rear-facing, rear-of-head wire mesh-covered vents
  • Removable, aerodynamic race covers that reveal an additional six top-of-head, wire mesh-covered vents you can open when not racing
  • Slalom chin bar available for purchase
  • Helmet sizes to fit almost any head

In-Mold Perfection

The in-mold helmet construction that Giro employs for the Talon fuses an exterior hardshell of a tough high-impact ABS with a highly impact-absorbing, EPS inner foam liner for superior durability without a lot of weight. It’s Giro’s world-famous in-mold bicycle helmet technology taken to new heights for skiing and snowboarding.

Passive Venting System

Most downhill racing helmets lack vents, in part, because the International Ski Federation does not allow them, but also because vents are not aerodynamic. A quick glance at the Giro Talon shows only two rear vents, which are acceptable since they are rear facing and covered with wire mesh. However, unscrew with your fingers the two removable aerodynamic race covers and you open up on the Talon another six passive vents to cool you down when not racing.

What is Super Fit?

Giro’s Super Fit engineering process is the foundation of every one of Giro’s ski and snowboard helmet designs. Every model is scaled and shaped for its intended wearer using a database of cranial measurements compiled from hundreds of people large and small, young and old, currently skiing the globe. Conceptually speaking, this means that if there is a perfect fitting helmet out there made specifically for you, most likely it is designed and manufactured by Giro.

Giro Talon Ski Racing Helmet--Serious Protection, Nice Price

The Giro Talon offers excellent protection for downhill racing at a reasonable price. It’s appealing in its design, offers some features most other race helmets do not, and it comes in many sizes to fit you the way you want it to. For the money, it’s a fantastic piece of headgear.
