#5: what are knee gaskets? do i need them too?

knee gaskets are tubular pads made of a stretchy neoprene/lycra blend. they are intended to slip on over your knee and rest beneath your normal knee pad to provide extra support for your knee joint and extra cushion for your knee caps against falls.
knee gaskets are quite popular with aggressive skateboarders and derby girls, whose knees tend to break their falls the majority of the time. most knee gaskets also come with exterior velcro strips, to better secure your knee pads on top of them.
we carry three different brands of knee gaskets:
triple eight knee gaskets - our smallest knee gasket, the triple eight knee gasket if perfect for a smaller skater or derby girl. it features a total length of 10.5", a 6" by 5" knee pad and an interior terry cloth, sweat-wicking liner.
smith scabs knee gaskets - our mid-size knee gasket, by smith scabs is a bit beefier, with a 6.5" by 5.5" knee pad and an 11" total length.
skate designs gladiator knee gaskets - the skate designs gladiator is our most robust model, great for a larger skater or derby girl. this gasket is 12" long and features a 6.5" by 5.5" knee pad.
