Knee gaskets are usually worn underneath knee pads to provide an additional layer of padding for big impacts. Riders will also use knee gaskets to tailor the fit and make larger knee pads fit more snug and stop sliding around. And finally, some folks are simply looking for a slim pad for underneath their jeans or outerwear, and don't want a thick pad.
