ProTec Street Pads Combo PackProTec Street Elbow Pads: Which ProTec Skate Elbow Pad Is Right for You?
ProTec makes several different kinds of skateboard elbow pads/BMX elbow pads, and it can be difficult to figure out which is right for you. We’ve laid them all out below to help you decide which elbow pad best meets your needs.
ProTec Gasket Elbow GuardsProTec Gasket Elbow Pads are the lightest and slimmest-fitting pads in the ProTec skate protective gear lineup. Gasket elbow pads offer elbow support and unrestricted movement but almost no padding. Going skateboarding or mountain biking and just want something under your clothes so you don’t hit on skin and bones? Going to a park that requires pads? The Gasket elbow pad might be your answer.
ProTec Double Down Elbow PadsDouble Down Elbow pads are exceptionally low profile with a snug Neoprene body for a slip-on/slip-off design. Incorporated in the sleeve is a fully removable single-layered EVA foam pad and internal hard cap that are stashed away behind the ballistic nylon reinforced pocket. This design makes the Double Down some of the most customizable skateboard protective gear around, however, the Double Down probably would not be a good choice for pipe or other skating where you’re likely to take substantial falls.
ProTec Street Elbow PadsProTec’s Street elbow pads are a great elbow pad for entry level or casual skateboarders or inline skaters. Street elbow pads feature EVA foam behind the elbow, a full-coverage molded plastic cup over the elbow, and solid Neoprene backing material for a snug fit. Two-inch Velcro straps above and below the knee cups provide a custom fit. Street elbow pads have an open back for ventilation and a slip on/slip off design.
ProTec Park Elbow PadsProTec Park elbow pads feature two-ply EVA foam padding behind and around the hard plastic elbow cup to provide advanced shock absorption. The Park elbow pad has a slightly slimmer but longer profile than the ProTec Street elbow pad. The ProTec Park elbow pad also features a butterfly closure, so you can take the pad on and off without removing your gloves.
ProTec Drop-In Elbow PadsDrop-In elbow pads are high-end skate protective gear for aggressive skaters. They feature natural suede-embossed leather at key wear points, gusseted stitching, and friction/rip resistant nylon. The Drop-In elbow pads have a slip on/slip off design. A replaceable hard cap with a built-in wear indicator makes it easy to see when you need a new cap.
Pro-Tec: Protection for Progression
Founded in 1973, Pro-Tec is the original action sports protective gear brand. The company’s product line includes skate helmets, bike/skate helmets, mountain bike helmets, gloves, upper body armor, knee and elbow pads, shin and ankle guards, and helmet liners. No other company comes close to matching ProTec’s list of achievements in protection, while never forgetting the importance of style, price and comfort. Evidence of this is ProTec’s leadership in high-performance helmets for skateboarding, biking, and snowboarding. On the outside, ProTec perfectly blends classic and contemporary styling to make ProTec one of the most iconic helmet brands around the globe. Beyond the surface, ProTec “engineers in” quality materials like rugged ABS plastic shells, stainless steel hardware, soft tubular webbing strapping, and in some models multi-impact SXP liner technology, for dependable performance mile after mile.
