Non-powered scooter riding is a relatively new sport (in terms of government regulation speed...), so there is not a lot of hard advice on safety or protective gear.
GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS FOR SCOOTER SAFETY
- Treat scooter riding as you would riding a bicycle. That is:
- Always Wear a Helmet!
- Wear knee and elbow pads
- Stay off the street
- Ride only during daylight
- Kids 10 and under should be supervised by an adult
- Don't ride above your abilities
- Wear a Bicycle Helmet Certified to the CPSC Bike Helmet Standards
