SixSixOne Riot Shin Guards: Which SixSixOne Gear Is Right For Me?
SixSixOne offers six different mountain biking/BMX knee pads, knee/shin pads, and shin guards that use EVA foam padding. (SixSixOne also offers
knee/shin pads that feature its innovative d30, a specially engineered material designed to be malleable and soft under normal conditions but to harden upon impact.) Each EVA foam-based pad is styled differently, and it can be tough to decide which one is right for your needs.
SixSixOne Rhythm knee/shin pads feature a uniquely shaped, perforated EVA foam pad that rests inside durable, abrasion-resistant mesh. The snug and soft polyester sleeve runs from ankle to mid-thigh—long enough to protect you from branches—and features an internal silicon gripper to keep the pad in place. The Rhythm knee/shin pad does not have a hard cap, thus it’s best suited for light rides or casual riders who only need a base level of protection.
SixSixOne Riot knee pads sport a low-profile, slim design for flexibility and mobility while still providing excellent protection. SixSixOne Riot knee pads feature perforated Neoprene with 1000 denier Kordura and an ergonomically pre-curved internal hard cap backed with EVA foam padding. They are most similar to the Rage knee pads in construction, but are slimmer and lack the side padding of the Rage. Riot knee pads have a slip-on design with a half-sleeve on the bottom and a wide, soft strap with Velcro closure on the top half.

They are easy-on/easy-off design (no need to remove your shoes) with three side, soft straps to hold them in place.
SixSixOne Rage knee pads feature a soft, perforated neoprene sleeve with a well-ventilated, breathable mesh fabric back. EVA foam and a tough, internal hard cap under abrasion-resistant Kevlar protect your knee cap while generous but flexible side pads protect your ligaments. SixSixOne Rage knee pads are the longer, wider, beefier big brother to the SixSixOne Riot knee pads. Rage knee pads also have a slip-on design with two straps and Velcro closures to hold the pad in place.
SixSixOne Comp Knee/Shin Guards have a combination hard- and soft-shell design. Low-profile, ventilated hard-shells padded with EVA foam cover both your knees and shins. Unlike other protective gear, Comp knee/shin guards wrap entirely around your calves, giving you total lower leg protection. In addition, the EVA foam padding on the Comp knee/shin guard rides both two inches above and two inches below the knee and shin hard-shells. Thus you get hard- and soft-padded protection that starts at the lower quad and carries down to the top of your ankle.
SixSixOne Rampage Knee/Shin Guards feature a perforated neoprene sleeve with vented stretch mesh backing. An elastic top strap with Velcro closure helps keep the Rampage in place. Your knee is protected by EVA foam padding, an internal hard cap knee protector, a soft shin protector, and stretch Kevlar. The Rampage and the Comp are SixSixOne’s top-end knee/shin guards that use EVA foam padding. Because of its soft shin protector, the Rampage offers slightly more mobility than the Comp.
