What is Leatt Alternative Load Path and why Should you Look for it?

The genius behind Leatt DBX neck braces is their patented Alternative Load Path Technology.

You might read or hear about it all the time, especially if you are someone who uses Leatt products, shops our site or reads our informative articles but you may not fully grasp the concept or understand why it is important.

Let us take a brief moment to explain it and why you should make sure it is a part of any neck brace you purchase.

Your head, neck, and spine are all connected (obviously) and can be rather sensitive. When cruising down a mountain on your bike or racing BMX, you want to make sure you are protected, but how are you supposed to protect your spine when you're going just as fast as you would be in a car? It can be difficult, but alternative load path has changed that.

The primary problem when you get into a crash or high impact wreck is the force that your body has to endure. Often when this force is thrust upon your head or neck, it can cause severe or even life changing injury. So the next best thing to do, besides not crash, is send that force elsewhere.

Leatt DBX 6.5 Neck Brace

That is what alternative load path technology does. When you put on your full-face helmet, and a PROPERLY FIT  Leatt DBX neck brace, ALPT shifts the force you absorb during a crash elsewhere. Because of how the neck brace fits, most times the energy transfers to your chest, shoulders, and back.

You might be thinking, “isn’t force just as bad going to my chest or back as it is my neck?” Well think about it like this, the day after a nasty crash, your back, chest, and shoulders might be terribly sore. This can heal, but spinal injuries like hyperextension or hyperflexion can cause far worse than just a week of sore muscles. Our bodies are resilient, but sadly the complexity of our spine and its functionality is not. That is why we must protect it at all costs.

There you have it, alternative load path technology, in simpler, non-scientific terms. It is pretty self-explanatory why you should make sure your next neck brace has this design, and we have you covered.
