Safety standards for ski / snowboard helmets

Most of the ski / snowboard helmets that we sell meet the popular ASTM F2040 safety standard for snow helmet protection. However, the Marker Ampire Helmet for Ski / Snowboard does not meet, or more likely, has not been tested to this standard. Instead, many Marker helmets only meet the EN CE 1077 (European) safety standard for snow sports. This makes sense, as Marker is a German company. For further information on these standards, please read our articles, EN CE Helmet Safety Standards Explained and Helmet Safety Standards Guide.

Way back in the 1960's, skiing was just becoming a popular recreational snow sport in the Bavarian Alps. With so many newbies to the sport, injuries sky-rocketed. Ski instructor and sports journalist Hannes Marker, realizing that most injuries were caused by poor ski binding design, set out to invent a ski binding that would reduce injuries to his students and other recreational skiers. His determination resulted in bindings that released the skiers boot once pressure on the knee reached a critical point. Hannes Marker's design was revolutionary. Thus, 'Marker' was launched. Through the years, Marker has continued to introduce new technology into different ski-related products to make skiing and snowboarding safer. Marker is now a trusted brand among both professional and recreational skiers worldwide.
